Volkswagen Taigun Not Launch Before 2016

Volkswagen is looking into launching a compact SUV Volkswagen Taigun in India. The car has been designed on the Up! New Small Family (NSF) platform. Volkswagen Taigun compact SUV was showcased at the Sao Paulo International Motor Show that took place in Brazil last year. The SUV that time gave a cue on the future designing of upcoming Volkswagen models in SUV segment. The to- be -launched compact SUV in India – Taigun – is an under four meter car that adorns a 3-cylinder turbocharged 1.0 liter petrol engine. The engine is enough capable to produce power worth 110 PS. But Volkswagen plans to bring a bit modified Taigun compact SUV in India that will customized according to Indian roads. Rs.9 lakhs has been quoted as Volkswagen Taigun price in India.

The present Taigun carries a smaller power mill that is not capable of accommodating four pot power source but in respect to India the German car maker is ready to modify the engine configuration. The company plans to give it a 1.5 liter 4 cylinder diesel power mill along with a 3-cylinder 1.4 liter diesel based power mill. These two engine options are at present under development in the company R&D section. The NSF platform of the vehicle has been designed only to support the front wheel drive so the new Taigun will not endorse a four wheel drive. But it will definitely bear an electronic stability program.

Initially the vehicle will be developed for South American nations and then it will launched in India after 2016. The car will be customized in sense of Indian roads. The wheelbase of the car may be increased to make it close to four meters which will offer more cabin space to its accommodators. Volkswagen plans to launch this vehicle in India with a more localized version so that they can get a support to position their Up! Hatchbacks, salon, and other offerings that it will be introducing on same platform. The Skoda Taigun SUV will be positioned beneath the Volkswagen Taigun in India.
