Toyota to recall 167 units of hybrid Prius in India
Japanese car makers Toyota have recalled 167 units of Prius in India to rectify the software error which affects the total 1.9 million units globally. This recall has announced due to a software error in the hybrid system which makes it enter a fail safe mode.

Toyota’s India arm Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced the recall in India, said the recall process will start on 14 February 2014.In India till now no complaints have been received but still Toyota will call the customer to rectify the error and repair will be done free of cost and it might take 1 to 1.5 hours to resolve the issue.
Since SIAM has rolled out Voluntary Recall Policy in India, most of the manufacturers are rapidly involving in recalls. Companies are assuring customers through such exercises of their commitments to providing better services.
Ispite of this, India is on the verge of getting a mandatory recall policy, under which vehicle manufacturers can be penalised for not conducting timely recalls, and even independent testing bodies will be setup to find manufacturing faults in vehicles.
