Naomi Ishii, MD, Toyota Motors puts up his opinion to the government eliminating the unique Regulations for e.g. the low taxes taken on cars, in terms with their size, in order to mark the success of Make In India campaign, especially in the Auto sector. He also said, that the Make In India concept would give a push an edge in terms of competition on the platform, even with the fact that India has 5-10 times stricter laws as compared to Indonesia or Thailand.
The rules and regulation at present, edict that a car housing a petrol dynamo with a capacity not more than 1200 cc and a diesel dynamo of less than 1500 cc and that measures a length not more than 4 meters pulls excise duty of 12 percent. Then this excise duty can vary and go higher as the car size gets larger, going up as high as 30 percent. Naomi also mentioned that the cars exported are also contrary to such regulations out country hosts.
When spoken to him about the brand’s new line up, he commented blaming the laws and regulation in India that keep changing, and also the factor of planning an new car, takes a lot of time, taking in account of the time taken of at least around 4 years in the process and then faced by such inconstancy, creates a lot of inconvenience for brands like us.
