The upcoming and much awaited, new baby from Maruti, was spied testing, on an almost production ready stage, we are guessing with the cues, that the car might carry, 1.6 moniker located at the boot, with either a Suzuki 1,586Cc petrol unit or a 1,598 Cc MultiJet Fiat diesel engine.
The S-Cross is out with both the dynamos in European market. The petrol engine manages 120 PS and 156 Nm of force, and platters its 5-speed manual gearing or a CVT. The diesel engine churns out a similar 120 PS but gives a higher 320 Nm of force, and is available solely teamed to a 6-speed manual transmission. According to the reports floating currently, Maruti may opt for a new name for the machine, as SX4 S-Cross may hint its relation with the SX4 sedan, that is no longer available in India. And the new name the car might acquire is the A-Cross for the Indian market.
Production of the model would be taking place in the brand’s Manesar unit. Likewise the Ciaz, the A-Cross too would be out in variants of V, V+, Z and Z+, with its top-end variant sporting features like projector headlamps, dual airbags, alloy wheels, ABS, EBD and the Brand’s Smart Play piloting and infomercial system.
Once on the roads, the new A-cross would give an edge to the current running Mahindra Scorpio, Hyundai ix25, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, with a price tag of Rs. 8-11 lakhs, ex-showroom by the middle of this year.
