The Indian roads could get an all new cross over based on Skoda Fabia, by 2017, if the productions get confirmed. As the Indian market is drooling over hatchback crossovers these days, manufacturers are marking their footstep in the current trend gradually. Reported by Auto Express, Skoda would be lining up another compact crossover to their range, which could be inspired by the latest Fabia hatchback.
While it has been reported about the Skoda team to boost up their sales to a 1.5 million units sold globally, so seems quite obvious that the brand is carefully crafting each and every variant they would roll out now. In order to accomplish this goal, the brand Skoda has a line-up for stronger machines, SUVs like, the next generation Yeti supposed to roll out in 2017, a flagship 7-seater for a release in 2016, and the Fabia based crossover by the end of 2016.
As per reports, the yet to be named crossover would likely be standing on VAG’s MQB platform, instead of the NSF (New Small Family) platform in the VW Taigun. Like with any hatchback based crossover, it could incorporate an elevated ride height, slightly larger dimensions and bold body cladding. Skoda offered a similar Fabia ‘Scout’ in the last generation, but the variant has more distinguishing it this time from what the rendering has to be done.
As the reports suggest, this new model could borrow its power supply from the Euro-spec powerful engines: 1.2 TSI, 1.4 TDI or a larger 1.6 TDI. As far as the transmission is concerned, most likely there would be a choice between a 6-speed manual or a DSG gearbox. In order to keep the costing low, the Brand would not equip the machine with an AWD system. As its quite visible, the Brand is planning a comeback to the Indian market, its quite possible, we would get to see the new launch for the Indian roads too.
