Report-Renault-Nissan to invest Rs 5000 crore in Tamil Nadu plant

At present, the plant in Chennai manages to produce 4 lakh vehicles per annum, that is split between Renault and Nissan. After this kind of an investment, it would help the Brands to eye and plan for exporting the models too. Nissan has been acting intrusive with its Datsun brand. After presenting the GO and the GO+, it is getting all set for the launch its most budget-friendly car in India. Talking about Renault, it is in the process of producing a car that is based on CMF-A platform.
Renault-Nissan wants to expand their current plant and they are planning for a total investment of Rs 5,000 crore for the expansion. We already have a MoU with them of Rs 4,500 crore, and this would add on to that. Work has been initiated already and the time frame provided to them is generally of seven years according to C V Sankar, additional chief secretary (industries department), Tamil Nadu.
