As monsoons hit Indian soil this June, carmakers are ready to shower new models all over the market. This month will be witnessing some the most awaited launches of the year. The reason all these launches are being looked forward with such eagerness is that all these model will be carrying strong potential to change dynamics of their respective segments. Let’s have a closer look at them.
1.Ford EcoSport Compact SUV: It is the exceptional mileage and reasonable price of EcoSport because of which it is being looked forward so eagerly. The 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine that this sub-4 metre SUV has been loaded with delivers power of a 1.5-litre engine. It is important for Ford too as it will be providing it with an edge in both B+ hatchback and compact SUV segment. Expected price range: Rs.6-9 lakh.
2. Mahindra Verito Vibe: Mahindra has been longing from a long time to enter this section. Motivated by the success of Verito sedan it is now bringing a hatchback version of it with an extended name Verito Vibe. The car will be powered by the very same 1.5-litre diesel engine that has been powering Verito sedan. Being a compact car Mahindra plans to price it aggressively in the range of Rs.4-Rs.7 lakh.
3. Volvo V40 Cross Country: Volvo will be launching this car in the luxury hatchback segment. The Swedish carmaker plans to pitch it against BMW X1, Audi Q3, and Mercedes-Benz A-Class. Although it is being called the most affordable car from Volvo, Volvo has no plans to position it as a vehicle for mass buyers. With an above average price range this car will be focused on creating a niche market for itself.
4.Hindustan Motors Ambassador BS4 Diesel: The flagship model of Hindustan Motors, Ambassador has its own status in Indian passenger vehicle segment. The home grown carmaker is now planning to bring-in a new diesel version of this car that will be in sync with Bharat Stage 4 (BS4) emission norms. The target market of this car will be those one tier cities where BS3 compliant vehicles have been banned.
5. Fiat Linea T-Jet: The Italian car has been working very hard to make a mark on Indian soil. Apart from expanding its own dealership network across the nation, Fiat is also looking into extending its product line with new and revamped models. Fiat Linea T-Jet being a part of it, it will be joining the league this month. Expected price range of this car is Rs.6-Rs.10 lakh.
