Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 to have a Diesel Engine

Maruti Suzuki has been reported to have a diesel mill inside its small house, the introduction of the diesel variant might be in the month of December. Along with the change in the engine line up, the company is also working upon giving the car some other twist in the design as well, as sourced from the web. As per the news floating over the internet, Maruti is planning to roll out an Maruti Alto 800 revamp, by the month of December this year.

 

 

The new variant promises to have a better fuel economy and a diesel model as well. Talking about the diesel unit, Maruti claims it to be a twin cylinder, 793 cc motor, designed in-house by the brand. The similar engine houses in the Maruti Celerio that was introduced in the month of June earlier this year. The diesel mill that sits in the Maruti Celerio, produces 47bhp and a maximum torque of 125 Nm and claims for pulling out an average of 27.62 km/l. Though, the Alto 800 might offer a better number on the fuel terms, owing to its light weight as compared to the Maruti Celerio.

 

 

If this report would get materialized, the Maruti Alto 800 diesel would become the most fuel-efficient diesel car in India, replacing the current Celerio, positioned on this benchmark. The Maruti Alto 800 was floated in the market primarily in the year 2012, and since then, this would be the first face-lift being gifted to the small car.
