Maruti, as we hear the name, suddenly fuel efficiency come in mind, well this has been quite their trade mark since long now and adds starts to the trust value, Indian have on the brand. The Car Manufacturer has been putting another step down in order to scoop out more for its buyers, in terms of better fuel efficiency, by equipping its vehicles with an Idle-Stop technology. This feature is available in the Maruti Suzuki makes, running in the international markets already. It is the same start and stop function that is currently seen in higher priced vehicles.
Once this feature is embedded in the vehicles, that would result in a fuel-efficiency profit of approximately 2-3kpl in regular driving conditions. This technology turns off the engine once the vehicle has completely stopped and restarts once the driver presses the clutch. In turn, with the engine, the AC would shut down too. However, to keep the cabin cool while the car is shut, the idling-stop system will come with a new feature known as Eco Cool.
The Eco Cool system would keep cool air flowing even when the car is idling by utilizing a type of cooling storage device sitting in the air conditioner unit to chill air. The idling stop system is currently available on some Mahindra makes under the ‘Micro Hybrid’ moniker, and Maruti would become the prime manufacturer in the hatchback segment to offer this feature in the Indian market. According to our sources, this system will first be presented in the Wagon R and gradually be seen in most Maruti variants in the Indian Market.
