Japanese auto major Honda Motors, which has just entered India's diesel car segment with launch of entry-level sedan Amaze, Monday said it would continue to bring diesel variants of Honda cars along with petrol which would be offered in next two-three years in India.
"We bring in the sedan for the dieselisation of the market. We have to go along with the market. And all the models to be launched in the next two-three years will have petrol as well as diesel variants," Honda Siel Cars India Ltd senior vice president Jnaneswar Sen told reporters after launching new sedan Amaze.
Car major has offered model in both petrol and diesel variants. It will compete directly with leaders like Maruti's bestselling sedan Swift Dzire along with Tata Indigo and Toyota Etios.
Honda Motors will roll out four new Honda upcoming cars including new generation Jazz, compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) and7-seater multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in next three years. Company will launch new Jazz in 2014. On launch of new SUV and MPV, Sen said company was yet to decide when two upcoming Honda diesel cars would be offered in country.
"The compact SUV will be on Jazz platform and the 7-seater MPV will be on the current brio platform. We are looking into these two models very closely," he said.
He also added company's entry into diesel car segment would provide more options to customers.
Despite a reduction in gap between petrol and diesel prices in country, demands for diesel variants would still exist, he added. Currently, car manufacture's market share in passenger car segment is 3.9%. Honda diesel versions will come with latest auto technologies.
