Honda will not be coming to India with its attractive Vezel SUV. Earlier it was planned that Vezel will launch in India by 2015 but it has been dropped, the idea was dropped because in last two years there is a downfall of 20 percent in Rupee. VEZEL was already Exhibit in TOKYO Motor Show in November 2013. it would cost around 16 lakhs which is very high comparatively to other competitor cars like Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Ford Eco Sport, They set the price range which would be easily affordable by the Indian customers.
Yoshiyuki Matsumoto, managing officer Asia and Oceania, said Vezel seems to be little expensive to compete with this category cars. Its features are technologically advanced and it takes much more effort and expense, situations become tough at this moment.
To Create Benchmark in India’s emerging SUV market, company is researching on its Honda Brio‘s platform to develop the compact SUV. This platform would reduce the development cost by which Honda Can easily compete in Prices with Competitors SUV.
There may be troubles to move ahead as Honda Brio’s platform has not been developed to design an SUV body style and wheels need to be redesign as it is smaller in size than required for SUV.It would be a great challenge for us to redesign the wheels.
It becomes easy for Honda to enter in the compact SUV segment and competitors would needs to be more alert at its launch, but we should not expect its launch before 2016.
