General Motors will launch new cars in India to boost car sales.GM India will be launching all new Chevrolet Sail sedan to compete with Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire.
In 2012, GMIPL, General Motors India Pvt. Ltd. experienced reduction in car sales. Sales for Dec 2011 in India stood at 8,993 units whereas sales for Dec 2012 came down to 7,048 units despite positive sales growth for 2012 in Indian auto industry.
General Motors will launch new cars in India to boost car sales. First in the list of new cars is Sail U-VA hatchback that launched last year in November with price tag of INR 4.44 lakhs. Second in the list is new launch Chevrolet Sail.
After Sail sedan, Company is also planning to launch Enjoy MPV in near future. Close look on company’s strategy will track that General Motors India is launching cars in those segment which are experiencing huge demand. Upcoming three GM cars will compete with Maruti Suzuki cars – Swift, DZire and Ertiga. All these cars are leaders in their segments with around collective sales of 35,000 units in domestic market.
Combined annual output of Halol, Gujarat and Talegaon, Maharashtra GM plants is 385,000. Once Chevrolet Sales India Private Limited of GM India was the 5th largest car maker in India but now it follows Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra, Tata and Toyota at 6th position. To improve position, GM India is planning to launch new cars.
