Indian Autos Blog learns that the Chevrolet Trailblazer, which is announced to launch in the Indian market this year, will come through the CBU (Completely Built up Unit) route, at least initially. The SUV will be imported from General Motors’ Rayong plant in Thailand.
The Trailblazer is expected to launch in India in the third- or fourth-quarter this year. GM India is keen on launching the 2016 model year version of the SUV, however, the Rayong plant is presently making the 2015 model year of the Trailblazer. Once the plant commences manufacturing the 2016 MY, GM India will launch the Trailblazer in the country.
For the Indian market, the Trailblazer will be powered by a 2.8liter four cylinder Duramax diesel engine capable of 200 hp and 500 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Both, 2WD and 4WD variants are expected to be introduced in India.
Projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, a Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system with iOS and Android support, reverse camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS, EBD and ESP with dual front airbags are expected on Trailblazer. The Trailblazer will go up against the Toyota Fortuner mainly, which is set to move to its next generation model in the coming weeks (sources say an unveiling will take place in Thailand on July 28, 2015).
