Audi has introduced the revolutionary Traffic Light Recognition System, It has been designed to make driver aware about the traffic signals on their route with the display in the instrument cluster. This system allows hassle free drive without hitting the red lights.
This technology was first equipped with fully developed Audi A6 prototype and showcased at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronic Show (CES) last year.
This system work through the internet service by coordinating between the in car Audi connect and the local traffic light network. It facilitates the driver by providing the distance information and speed which needs to be maintained to pass through an upcoming traffic signal.
The system also equipped with the engine start and stop function, which restarts the engine five seconds before the traffic signal green light appears. If driver is already waiting at red light, Audi connect will start calculating the time of next traffic signal and show the remaining time when next red signal turns to green.
Once the technology would be fully functional in Audi’s all models it could help to save 900 million liters of fuel per year and also helps to reduce emissions by up to 15 percent. This would definitely provide the more relaxed and comfortable drive always.
The all new fully functional system is production ready and could be fitted to every Audi model in the range subject to the necessary government legislation.
