Yamaha India would at last launch the Yamaha YZF-R3 on 11th of August, 2015 that would definitely going to give the present running models such as the KTM RC390 and the Kawasaki Ninja 300 a tough end. Whereas when we talk about the performance the best opponent would be the Benelli TNT 300, I have not been able to include it as a proper competitor as it is indeed a naked motorbike, while the bikes we are speaking about are the fully-faired ones.
Let’s start with the engine, the KTM RC390 has the maximum movement, in spite of being a solo-cylinder mill. The Yamaha R3 and the Ninja 300 sport twin-cylinder units housing 321 cc and 296 cc correspondingly. As per the claims by the companies, these bikes churn out a power in the range of 39-43 PS, however the KTM RC390 produces its supreme power and torque prior to its rev-range. The KTM RC390 also has the uppermost power-weight proportion in its segment at 262.04 PS/ton, whereas the Ninja comes in the lowermost range of 226.74 PS/ton.
The main reason behind the KTM RC390’s performance figures stands its light in weight technology being the lightest bike in its segment by just being at 166 kg. All the bikes acquire a similar disc brakes pattern at the fore and the rear along with ABS that should be fixed in the Yamaha R3 too. Though, the KTM RC390 develops broader Metzeler tyres at the rear when compared. Estimation of the Yamaha R3 would be declared on the 11th of August, although as per reports, it would be introduced via the CKD route from Indonesia, signifying that prices might not be as bold as the locally produced KTM.
